Petroineos will be selling 0.5% sulphur marine fuel from its Lavera refinery, which is located on the French Mediterranean coast. The company will start selling the compliant fuel in the fourth quarter this year.
Petroineos’s IMO compliant fuel will be complying with the current ISO 8217 specifications.

As of today, the company is producing 1% low-sulphur fuel oil. Regarding the 0.5% very low-sulphur fuel oil, its supply will be based on market prices.
Ahead of 2020 sulphur cap, oil majors have announced the availability of compliant fuels. Namely, BP will be introducing very low sulphur fuel oil, after conducting successful sea trials in the Amsterdam/Rotterdam/Antwerp and Singapore hubs.
In addition, ExxonMobil will have compliant fuel available at the ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Genoa, Marseilles, Singapore, Laem Chabang and Hong Kong, with locations in North America to follow.
What is more, other refiners in the Mediterranean have also confirmed that they will produce 0.5% compliant fuel, such as Cepsa, Repsol, and Saras.
