Viking’s Line ferry “MS Amorella” has run aground in the Baltic Sea off Åland, Finland carrying onboard approximately 200 passengers and 80 crewmembers.
Namely, MS Amorella was on the Turku–Stockholm route when the grounding occurred at 1250 local time on 20 September, 2020.
In light of the situation, the coast guard got alerted of the incident just before 1 p.m. Finnish time.
As rescue officials reported, all the passengers have been successfuly evacuated to land with no injuries.
What is more, Finnish coastguard informed that the ferry is currently stuck on the ground south of the port of Långnäs in the Åland Islands.
At the moment there is no any oil leakage marked after the vessel’s grounding.
Following the incident, authorities are investigating the matter at hand to find out why the ferry ran aground.
Concluding, the ship will be replaced today by the MS Gabriella until further notice.
