The passenger ferry “Blue Star Mykonos” is in quarantine at Port Limnos after a crewmember experienced COVID-19 symptoms. The ferry remains docked at Limnos, awaiting for the test results.
Specifically, the vessel began its journey from Kavala heading to Piraeus as its terminal point. However, local media reported that on Wednesday, March 11, at 21.35 local time, the captain of the vessel called for an ambulance, as the crewmember had fever.
The ambulance arrived at 22.30 and transferred the crewmember to a hospital at Kavala.
Although the ship normally began its journey from Kavala, when it called Lemnos port, the Captain, in collaboration with the Health Directorate of the Regional Unit of Kavala, stated that no one could embark or disembark the vessel due to suspicions that the crew member may have required COVID-19.
For the time being, Blue Star Mykonos accommodates 341 passengers and 77 crewmembers.
To remind, the last days Europe has reported of increased COVID-19 cases, with Italy being on the top 5 of countries with the most coronavirus confirmed cases, as the live map reports. More specifically, Greece has reported of 98 confirmed, active cases, and one dead.
Keep in mind that WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic, which does not mean that it has become more deadly, but it is an acknowledgement of its global spread.
