It has been reported that the water levels in the Parana River/ River Plate system have been dropping below average, leading to the Hydrographic Authorities and the Coast Guard issuing a notice advising masters to exercise caution when navigating in the waters.
Specifically, it is highlighted that the forecast of the hydrometric heights issued by the Hydrological Information and Alert System for the Del Plata Basin corresponding to the National Institute of Water (INA), for the next few days the hydrometric heights will continue to drop below the average.
That is why, the authorities of the area launched the hydrological alert in the Plata Basin, aiming to inform the masters navigating through the area.
The alert states that
In view of the foregoing, we request you to take the necessary security measures (in relation to the cargo and drafts) in order to avoid the occurrence of events that endanger waterways, crews, vessels and / or cargo, safeguarding the safety of navigation and protection of the environment”, taking into account the current hydrological condition.
