According to news, the Panama Canal will permit more ships to pass through daily, attributed to indications of improving water levels amid the ongoing drought conditions.
The Panama Canal, an important route for international cargo, experienced reduced water levels last year due to climate change and the El Niño phenomenon, prompting officials to restrict the number of vessels allowed to transit through.
The Panama Canal Authority notified clients that it would incrementally increase the daily transit limit to accommodate up to 32 ships per day, up from the previously announced limit of 27 ships a month ago.
As explained, during 2022, the Panama Canal received an average of 39 ships per day.
