The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) issues Worldwide Threat to Shipping (WTS) Report for the period18 August – 18 September 2013.
The Worldwide Threat to Shipping (WTS) message provides information on threats to, and criminal action against, merchant vessels worldwide in the last 30 days. This report is producedprimarily to inform merchant mariners and naval forces.
SUMMARY
1. INDONESIA: On 16 September, a berthed chemical tanker was boarded at Gresik Port. The robber boarded the ship while the crewwas busy connecting the cargo hoses. The robber broke into the paint store and stole ship’sstores. Duty crewman noticed the robber and informed the duty officer who raised the alarm andmustered the crew. Upon hearing the alarm, the robber escaped with the stolen stores in a boat.(IMB)
2. INDONESIA: On 15 September, an anchored chemical tanker was boarded at NipahAnchorage. Duty crew noticed four robbers on thepoop deck. Duty officer was informed, alarm raised and crew mustered. Seeing alerted crew therobbers escaped. (IMB)
