The Office of Naval Intelligence has issued its Piracy Analysis and Warning Weekly (PAWW) Report for 16 – 22 June 2016. According to the report, pirate and maritime crime activity in East African waters is at a low level. There were no reported maritime crime incidents during this past week. Pirate and maritime crime activity in West African waters is at a medium level. There was one attack and one suspicious approach reported during this one-week period.

event during the past week.

- Kidnapping:
1. NIGERIA: On 22 June, kidnappers ambushed a convoy of local Nigerian and foreign workers
employed by a large cement company in Calabar. A local driver was killed and up to seven persons were
kidnapped, including five foreign workers. The kidnappers took the hostages to a waiting boat and fled into
the river system. Press reports indicate that two local Nigerians, three Australians, one New Zealander and
one South African were kidnapped. - Vessels Boarded: No incidents to report.
- Vessels Fired Upon/Attempted Boarding/Attack: No incidents to report.
- Other Activity: No incidents to report.

- VIETNAM: On 16 June, Vietnam-flagged fishing boat QNg-95821 was reportedly attacked by a Chinese vessel seven nautical miles from Bom Bay Island. H.
- MALAYSIA: On 15 June, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) seized 14,000 liters of subsidized diesel and arrested seven Vietnamese fishermen 103 nautical miles from Kuala Terengganu. J.
- ANGOLA: On 13 June, one robber boarded an anchored tanker in Luanda Anchorage and transfer ship’s stores into his boat.
- BAHAMAS: On 13 June, Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) marines were involved in a shootout and subsequent high-speed chase with suspected Dominican poachers in the Cay Lobos area. L.
- CUBA: On 27 May, robbers boarded a Canada-flagged sailing yacht anchored near Isla de la Juventud. M.
- INDONESIA: On 21 May, robbers boarded an anchored product tanker in Jakarta Tanker Anchorage. N.
- MICRONESIA: On 15 May, two fast boats made a suspicious approach against an underway vehicle carrier between Pisares Island and East Fayu Island.
