The Office of Naval Intelligence has issued its Piracy Analysis and Warning Weekly (PAWW) Report for 14 – 20 July 2016. According to the report, pirate and maritime crime activity in East African waters is at a low level. There were no reported maritime crime incidents during this past week. In West African there was one attack reported against oil infrastructure targets during this past week.

1. NIGERIA: On 18 July, suspected militants bombed a major pipeline intersection operated by the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, at Batan, near Warri. No group has claimed responsibility but the Niger Delta Avengers has claimed a wave of bombings of oil and gas facilities since the beginning of the year.

- INDONESIA: On 16 July, seven persons armed with knives boarded the bulk carrier BALTIMORE 18 nm southwest of Pulau Mangkai,
- PERU: On 14 July, eight robbers boarded the cruise ship AMAZON DISCOVERY and robbed the passengers of approximately $26,000 in personal equipment and cash.
- COLOMBIA: On 11 July, 2 robbers, armed with knives, boarded a sailing yacht anchored near Isla Grande, Rosario Islands area.
- ITALY: On 7 July, police searched the container ship MSC POH LIN in the port of Gioia Tauro, finding 83 kilograms of cocaine.
- CONGO: On 4 July, robbers in a small boat boarded an anchored pipe laying barge in Pointe Noire Outer Anchorage.
- GRENADA: During the first week of July, eight sailing yachts in a storage anchorage area were boarded in Mt. Hartman Bay.
- MALTA: EU authorities are concerned that the general cargo ship FALKVAG has apparently disappeared. The ship is suspected of involvement in arms smuggling to Libya.
