Namely, after the collision, the cargo ship split in half and sunk, carrying five crewmembers. Of them, four were rescued, while the body of the missing crewmember was found in the ship’s cabin during a search and rescue operation.
Local authorities have started an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, while they have asked the bulk carrier Daio Southern Cross to remain in Hon Gai anchorage, while further information is being collected.
