The megayacht SeaDream Innovation will be built and retrofitted at Damen’s Mangalia shipyard in Romania, with construction beginning in October. The vessel will be able to accommodate up to 220 passengers and will begin operations from 2021.
It will have a large battery pack of about 4MWh to achieve silent sailing, without emissions for as long as three hours. The yacht will also be capable of sailing to sensitive areas like the fjords.
SeaDream Innovation will also incorporate a machine that will take waste heat from the engines and transform it into electricity. This initiative can produce up to 150kW of electrical power, leading to less emissions and lower fuel consumption.
The yacht will also be able to plug into shoreside electrical grids, via a shore connection system.
What is more, its engines meet IMO rules, as well as MARPOL Tier III limits.
