Drewry Supply Chain Advisors launched a new Origin Management service as part of its ocean freight procurement and logistics management solutions.
The service aims to help global shippers and BCOs improve the management of current processes and more effectively coordinate the factory-to-port links of import supply chains, or introduce the concept into their wider supply chains.
For many BCOs, effective Origin Management can be challenging as they find themselves remote from the origin location, and all too often costs and time can be exacerbated by not having the right provider in place, or by not establishing an effective control point at origin
said Chantal McRoberts, head of advisory at Drewry Supply Chain Advisors.
Drewry has identified this specialised area as a weak part of maritime-intensive supply chains and is now able to support import BCOs in either optimising their current, or developing new, Origin Management processes through interactive workshops which define the OM strategy and provide visibility to all stakeholders.
Drewry’ssupply chain advisory team can perform diagnostics to re-engineer the existing OM process, or design an OM roadmap, if not already in place.
By interacting with clients and applying industry best practices as part of a programme of scoping, discovery and action, Drewry is able to advise on the optimum processes to give full visibility to effectively manage the Origin Management process and providers in the future
Ms McRoberts concluded.
