Miros has introduced a new wave and vessel motion prediction technology which integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), X-band radar, and high-accuracy wave height measurements to monitor sea conditions.
According to Miros, the PredictifAI system provides real-time predictions of ocean waves and vessel motion, with forecasts ranging from seconds to a few minutes ahead. The technology uses a dual-source measurement concept integrated with Miros’ WaveSystem, allowing it to function in various sea states.
The result of the hard work of our in-house team of industry experts, this next-generation technology represents a significant leap forward in maritime safety and operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, Gunnar Prytz, Miros CTO, said that by combining AI with site-specific sea state measurements in real-time, thery are giving vessel operators the power to see into the immediate future, enabling them to make informed decisions and manage critical operations with unprecedented confidence.
During the 2023 SMART4SEA Athens Forum, Themistoklis Sardis, IT Manager, Costamare Shipping Company S.A. explained that there are several AI applications in the shipping industry. AI-based systems can monitor data from various sources such as weather, sea conditions, and vessel traffic to provide a real-time data analysis, decision support, and automated alerts to help ship operators navigate safely and efficiently. Furthermore, AI-based predictive modeling can be used to analyze data and make predictions about potential hazards or risks, such as storms, collisions, or equipment failures.
