Meratus Indonesian logistics company has launched a smart system, SMARCO, that helps monitor containers, to meet the demand for more efficient and safe container shipping.
According to Meratus, with advanced IoT sensors, GPS tracking and cloud-based technologies, SMARCO gives businesses the possibility to have full visibility and control over shipping containers, including real-time monitoring of movement, speed, shock, intruders and changes in temperature. SMARCO’s security system can detect any unauthorized seal breaking, preventing possible theft or illegal smuggling. This technological innovation is the first in the shipping industry in Indonesia.
Upon arrival at the destination, the customer receives a complete report on every factor that occurred during the shipping process. This report can be used to analyze delivery performance, identify areas that need to be optimized for cost efficiency, time effectiveness, and reduced carbon emissions, as well as improve supply chain effectiveness and security systems.
All of the features possessed by SMARCO are inseparable from a small device embedded in a container. This device has a solar panel battery charging feature so that it is more energy efficient with a battery life of up to 10 years. In addition, the sensors adopted in this device include vibration, movement and speed sensors combined with GPS technology. The resulting data is also equipped with data encryption to ensure security and fast network registration to ensure the safety and efficiency of customer container shipments.
