Hurtigruten’s new hybrid battery powered expedition cruise ship called “MS Fridtjof Nansen” has completed sea trials and will be ready to voyage earlier than expected, ahead of the planned April 1st inaugural voyage.
Specifically, the vessel is equipped with green technology and large battery packs, having similarities with its sister vessel, MS Roald Amundsen, the world’s first battery-hybrid powered cruise ship, which recently completed Northwest Passage crossing.
The early launch of the hybrid vessel marks the company’s pre-inaugural voyages.
Accordingly, the expedition cruise ship is scheduled to be delivered in late 2019, earlier than the planned April 1 inaugural voyage from Hamburg to the Norwegian coast.
The exclusive, five-night, pre-inaugural voyage will depart from London- March 7; Liverpool- March 12; and Portsmouth-March 17, will take guests to a journey exploring destinations in and around the British Isles, visiting , amongst others, destinations such as Isles of Scilly, Fowey, Isle of Man and Dartmouth.
