Genting Oil & Gas Limited and Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry have signed a contract for a 1.2 MTPA floating liquefied natural gas plant in West Papua, Indonesia, for a total of USD 43.04 million.
The FLNG plant in Indonesia will be the first in the country and the ninth in the world. The initial shipment of LNG is expected to come from the project in the first half of 2026. PTLNG has made a deal with Wison to make sure the timeline doesn’t slip. The deal also lets PTLNG buy things like cold boxes, compressors, and generator sets that take a long time to make.
Hua Bangsong, the Chairman of Wison, talked about how tight the LNG market is and how important it is to get the key resources in place for the first drop of LNG in Kasuri Block by the second quarter of 2026. Indonesia has a lot of minor gas supplies, which makes it an affordable place to sell natural gas.
Due to Indonesia’s archipelago nature and abundant marginal gas resources, FLNG facilities offer the most cost-effective option to monetize natural gas in the region, and Wison sees Indonesia as an important strategic market for FLNG.
… Hua Bangsong, the head of Wison, said
Wison is currently working on a front-end engineering and design (FEED) project for the FLNG plant. It is expected to be finished by the end of November 2023.
The agreement was witnessed by Wison Chairman Hua Bangsong, President & COO & Executive Director of Genting Berhad, and President of South East Asia Region for Wison.
