The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on biodiversity sustainability, marine environment protection, and assessing the impact of coastal tourism on the Red Sea.
The agreement, signed by SRSA CEO Mohammed Al-Nasser and KAUST President Tony Chan, aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions to achieve mutual benefits. Key areas of collaboration include ensuring the sustainability of Red Sea biodiversity, sharing expertise, and supporting marine protection initiatives.
The MoU also emphasizes evaluating the environmental and economic impacts of tourism, updating information on international standards, and enhancing marine preservation as coastal industries grow.
As informed, this partnership aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals, aiming to build human capacity and strengthen both local and international partnerships in the field of coastal tourism and environmental protection.
