Oders for fitting Alfa Laval Pure ballast systems
The PB250 module is delivered by MESAB fully assembled, requiring only electrical and pipe connections. ME Solutions (MESAB) of Sweden says that it has received oders for fitting Alfa Laval Pureballast systems for two cruise newbuildings and a retrofit project on two tank vessels.
The retrofit order comes from Alfa Laval Nordic, and is for Pureballast PB500 2.0 systems to be installed in two ships owned by Frederiet of Sweden and chartered by Neste Oil subsidiary Nynäs. The system will be installed in the pump rooms of the ships. All piping will be made of GRE type pipes.
Installation is estimated to be completed by January 2012. MESAB will carry out a complete turnkey delivery on behalf of Alfa Laval Nordic. The work includes design, class approval, project management, integration to onboard systems as well as the installation and start up of the system.
ME Solutions AB is a turnkey contractor for ballast water treatment services. Alfa Laval has also contracted MESAB to install an integrated module on a cruise vessel currently under construction at JJ Sietas in Hamburg, Germany. The PB250 module will be delivered as a complete system requiring only electrical power and pipe connections to ship systems.
All equipment is mounted onto a frame, with the necessary electrical wiring connected and system testing complete. The complete module fits into a 20ft container.Another Alfa Laval contract for a PB250 integrated module is for a cruise vessel currently under construction at the STX shipyard in France.
The PB250 module was developed and designed by MESAB. The company says the PB250 provides maximum benefit to the shipyard in reducing installation cost, design time, shipping expense, lead time, and knowledge required for proper functioning of the Alfalaval PureBallast 2.0 system.
