Following a successful collaboration for 8 years in a row, “Linked-by-Rail” project ended on 6 February. In fact, under the project’s corridor among Netherlands and Poland, the number of the rail connections between the two regions quadrupled, from 5 to around 20 departures per week.
The Linked-by-Rail project enhanced the European GreenDeal, thanks to the modal shift of thousand trucks from road to rail.
As Port of Rotterdam further informed, the project also supported the position of the Netherlands as an intermodal hub.
During those 8 years, a consortium of rail and logistics operators and other transport companies, joined their forces with the government to advance the rail transport among the Netherlands and Poland and established new rail connections.
Responsible for the project’s coordinating was Panteia, which also assisted the Dutch and Polish ministries to remove bottlenecks.
Other participants of “Linked-by-Rail” were: Boekesteijn Transport Service, Schavemaker, Nijman / Zeetank, Nijhof Wassink, Port of Rotterdam Authority, Seacon Logistics Group, Raillogix, Eucon, GVT, Van den Bosch, PCC and KNV.
Overall, the European Gateway Services recently informed that the Rotterdam- Nuremberg rail shuttle has been completed and is already calling at all the deepsea terminals, in Maasvlakte (1 & 2).
