The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced this week that it will not be renewing the bunker craft operator license of New Maritime Pte Ltd and it will expire on 16 June 2023.
According to MPA Singapore, On and from 17 June 2023, New Maritime Pte Ltd will cease to be licensed and must not continue to operate as a bunker craft operator within the Singapore Port. The Port Authority also sought to remind all bunker license holders (including bunker suppliers and bunker craft operators) to comply strictly with all the terms and conditions of the respective bunker license.
The reasons behind this revocation are not clear. As per the MPA statement, ‘MPA has zero-tolerance for any type of fraud, corruption or bunkering malpractice‘.
The Port Authority warned that it will not hesitate to take firm action against any bunker supplier or bunker craft operator that contravenes any of its bunker license terms and conditions, including taking into account such contraventions in considering whether to renew the bunker license, suspending or cancelling the bunker license, and taking enforcement action against such bunker licensee.
