MPA Singapore and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 2, 2024, aimed at advancing maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, and manpower development.
Under the MoU, MPA and NYK will collaborate on promoting the use of sustainable maritime fuels such as biofuels, methanol, and ammonia, starting with pilot projects and progressing towards broader adoption. They also plan to develop training programs for seafarers focused on operating ammonia-fuelled vessels and other skills crucial for sustainability.
MPA looks forward to our partnership with NYK to unlock our collective potential and develop solutions that can be scaled up to benefit the global maritime community in the move towards smart and sustainable shipping.
