Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Rio Tinto have announced a Partnership Agreement to strengthen their collaboration in various aspects.
The agreement encompasses Safety and Crew Welfare initiatives, as well as a commitment to enhancing the decarbonization of maritime transportation. Building upon their existing commitment to the DOO program (aimed at improving safety and crew welfare in the dry bulk industry), the companies have decided to further collaborate on shipping decarbonization.
In partnership with Rio Tinto, MOL aims to enhance operational and technical efficiency while exploring potential collaborations in alternative shipping fuels. The focus will be on lowering GHG emissions associated with ocean transportation of resources, all the while prioritizing the safety of their operations.
According to MOL, the collaboration signifies a joint commitment to sustainability and decarbonization within the maritime industry.
