Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has signed of another long-term charter contract for a newbuilding LNG carrier with a vessel operation management company funded by JERA.
This contract marks the seventh LNG carrier agreement between MOL and JERA. The vessel, scheduled for delivery in 2026, will be constructed at the Geoje Shipyard of SAMSUNG HEAVY INDUSTRIES CO., LTD (Headquarters: South Korea). It features a membrane tank type of 174,000m3.
Upon completion, it will be managed by MOL and tasked with transporting LNG for JERA.
According to MOL, the new LNG carrier will feature the MAN Energy Solutions ME-GA engine, designed to improve fuel consumption efficiency and enhance environmental friendliness compared to conventional LNG carriers.
As informed, through this long-term charter contract, MOL aims to contribute to the stable supply of LNG in partnership with JERA.
