Measures to Prevent Accidents with Lifeboats
Summary
The Note promulgates MSC.1/Circ.1206/Rev.1, which provides recommendations iintended to reduce the risk of accidents with lifeboats, particularly during maintenance and drills.
- The Maritime Safety Committee, at its 86th session in June 2009, approved the MSC.1/Circ.1206/Rev.1 on Measures to Prevent Accidents with Lifeboats to revise the Guidelines (annexes 1 and 2 to MSC.1/Circ.1206) concerning inspection and maintenance of lifeboats, launching appliances and on-load release gear.
- A copy of the MSC.1/Circ.1206/Rev.1 is annexed to this Note for easy reference.Shipowners, ship managers, ship operators, ship masters, officers, crews, classification societies and all other concerned with the inspection and maintenance of lifeboats, liferafts, rescue boats and fast rescue boats and their launching appliances and on-load release gear are reminded to observe the revised Guidelines annexed to MSC 1 / Circ.1206 / Rev.1.
