Recognition of TM’s maritime services
The Merchant Shipping Directorate, the Malta flag Administration has been successfully certified and registered by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA), as having in place an ISO 9001:2008 quality management system under the United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS).
This quality certification encompasses the management of the provision of regulatory and registration services of ships, seafarers and all ancillary services in terms of the Merchant Shipping Act.
As a leading maritime Administration, this is clear evidence of the commitment of the Malta Register towards improved efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of its services and operations and its incessant drive for quality. The Authority is committed to maintaining this certification and to continually improving and providing high value added services to shipowners and operators around the world and to the Maltese maritime community.
The quality certification of the Malta Register is of an added benefit to ship operators operating ships under the Malta flag because it provides the necessary assurances of the Authority’s ability to implement and administer international rules and regulations in today’s evolving maritime regulatory climate.
Mr James Piscopo, Chairman and CEO of Transport Malta commended the personnel of the Merchant Shipping Directorate and commented “this is another major milestone for the Directorate that has proved that through commitment and cooperation, quality is achievable. The Authority believes a lot in its human resources and continues to heavily invest in its people in order to achieve such high quality results in all modes of transport in Malta. This is yet another important achievement for Maritime Malta and proof of our commitment towards the further consolidation and reinforcement of the maritime industry, an industry that is very important for the Maltese economic sustainability.”
