Shipping giant, Maersk Line, will begin serving to Somalia’s Mogadishu Port. Mogadishu Port is a key for Somalia’s international trade. The specific date in which Maersk will start the service is not known yet.
In a statement, the Mogadishu Port informed that Maersk will be calling at the port, however it did not provide a specific date as to when the operations will begin.

Commenting on this development, the port said that this decision by Maersk shows that Somalia’s economy is growing. It is also a sign that the rest of the world wants to work with the country.
Now, the port hopes that this will lead other companies as well to work with Somalia, in order for the country to export more goods in other countries.
Mogadishu Port is crucial for Somalia’s international trade and it has been operated by Turkish company Albayrak Group since October 2014.
