Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions, along with Sumitomo Chemical, Sumitomo Electric Power Co, Sumitomo Joint Electric Power, and Shikoku gas, will build an LNG terminal at Sumitomo Chemical’s plant in Ehime prefecture in Japan.
In the future, a new joint venture company will be create called Niihama LNG and the construction of the LNG plant will begin.
Except the LNG receiving terminal, the companies informed that they will also construct a gas-fired power plant at the site of Sumitomo Chemical’s plant in Niihama.
The Niihama LNG terminal will have a 230,000 kilolitre LNG tank, which will begin operations in February 2022. The Niihama will start operations from July 2022.
This project is part of Sumitomo’s attempt to reduce environmental burden by saving energy and reducing CO2.
