LOI must be signed and sent to port control by vessels engaged in non-standard activities
The West of England P&I Club advises that the newDurban port Letter Of Indemnityis now in force and is to be completed and submitted to the port authorities prior to undertaking any of the foregoing activities within Durban port limits.
Non-standard activities are summarised as follows:
- Exceeding port limitations oversize LOA and/or beam
- Job of a special nature to include crew transporting, surveyors other state officials, Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) clients, tug & tow, lash-up
- No main engine shift
- Oil rig stay in port/anchor
- Port entry access indemnity
- Ship repairs
- Supplying provisions/stores/equipment/water by TNPA craft
- Tug & tow & salvage jobs
- Tidal vessels arriving or departing the port and on berth
- Vessel immobilisation on the berth
- Other (specify)
