Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. (“K” Line) announced that two of its subsidiaries, Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. and Escobal Japan Ltd. will be merged on July 1, 2017 and tentatively scheduled to be renamed “K” Line RORO and Bulk Ship Management Co., Ltd. on April 1, 2018.
The company aims to insure a reorganization of the structure of the group’s ship management system, to a further level by consolidation of the experience within the two respective companies. The merged companies are expected to realize more secure and environmental-friendly service toward sustainability.
To upgrade future services and security, “K” Line will hold three ship management companies after the merger:
- “K” Line Ship Management Company Ltd. dedicated to containerships, tankers and gas carriers,
- “K” Line LNG Shipping (UK) Limited to LNG carriers, and
- Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. to car carriers and dry bulk carriers.
