The world’s largest Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) was unveiled in late April in Shanghai before being delivered to Singaporean owner Petredec Global by Jiangnan Shipyard.
According to local news, the vessel, named Harzand, is 230 meters long and 36.6 meters broad. Jiangnan Shipyard built and designed the first of the fourth-generation VLGC-type ships. According to Dong Sanguo, the VLGC’s principal designer, it is also the world’s largest dual-fuel liquefied petroleum gas powered VLGC.
The carrier can transport up to 93,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas. Jiangnan Shipyard has received orders for 52 VLGCs since 2012, including fourteen 93,000 cbm VLGCs, and the company claims a global market share of 24.7 percent.
