NAMEPA Marine Environmental Protection Award
ITOPF was presented with the NAMEPA Marine Environmental Protection Award in recognition of the work done to preserve the marine environment at a dinner aboard the Hornblower Infinity in New York on 30th October.
ITOPF’s Managing Director, Dr Karen Purnell, attended the Awards dinner and highlighted the alignment between many of the goals of NAMEPA and ITOPF, in particular, the focus on education and innovation.
In presenting the award, Clay Maitland, NAMEPA’s Chairman said that ‘ITOPF has demonstrated such commitment on behalf of the marine environment, and has been proactive in protecting the health of our seas. For these reasons, we are pleased to be giving this award to you.’
The NAMEPA Awards dinner was preceded by a World Maritime Day Observance Conference on Sustainable Maritime Development. Dr. Karen Purnell participated on a panel addressing risk management alongside the IMO Secretary-General, Koji Sekimizu, Peter Evensen, CEO Teekay, Torben Skaanild, BIMCO, Donald Roussel, Transport Canada, and other high-level speakers.
