The largest warship in the Iranian navy caught fire and sank last week in the Gulf of Oman under unclear circumstances.
The blaze began on June 2nd, with firefighters trying to contain it. However, the ship sank near the Iranian port of Jask.
In addition, sources report that sailors wearing life jackets evacuated the vessel as the fire burned behind them. Iranian officials have not provided information about the cause for the fire.
The fire on warship comes after several mysterious explosions that started in 2019 targeting commercial ships in the Gulf of Oman. The U.S.have accused Iran of targeting the ships with limpet mines, with Iran denying the alleggations.
What is more, in April, an Iranian ship called the MV Saviz was targeted in an attack suspected to have been carried out by Israel.
