The video shows transport of two LNG storage tanks to an LNG satellite terminal to Raahe, in northern Finland at the end of November 2017. Wärtsilä was awarded the turnkey contract to supply the Raahe terminal site at the end of 2016.
As explained, the local utility, Raahen Voima, will utilise the LNG to replace the use of LPG for generating power and heat to its’ major consumer, a local SSAB steel mill. As a result of switching to LNG, the steel mill will notably reduce its emissions of CO2, NOx and SOx.
The Raahe LNG terminal will be fully operational in summer 2018.
