The Indian Coast Guard saved 343 personnel from a passenger ship that experienced flooding on board while it was off the Car Nicobar Islands, on August 2.
The Indian Coast Guard deployed a ship to the incident area, as well as a Dornier aircraft, rescuing all the crew members of the passenger vessel, MV Swaraj Dweep, who are now safe.

The passenger ship was carrying 343 personnel, while flooding on board was reported, with the crew seeking immediate assistance. The damage was controlled, using heavy duty submersible pumps, according to Indian Coast Guard.
The ship had left Port Blair, South Andaman for Nancowry Island. The vessel had 250 passengers, 93 crewmembers and containerized cargo on board. During the voyage, the flooding started in the hold, and the water increased to five meters.
