On 9th of May 2024, Houthis claimed in a statement that they have attacked three MSC vessels, without offering specific details or evidence.
Despite the statement issued on May 9, there have been no further confirmed attacks reported by military tracking operations or merchant ships in the region since intercepts on May 6 and 7 by U.S., Italian, and French warships.

However, Houthis claimed to have targeted MSC Diego and MSC Gina, both vessels registered in Panama, while they were in the Gulf of Aden. However, neither ship sustained damage, and they continued their journeys to Djibouti.
Another unconfirmed attack was reported on MSC Vittoria, also registered in Panama and en route to India. Nevertheless, there has been no independent verification of these claims.
