HMM has announced the addition of an LNG-ready, 13,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) container ship, marking the completion of a series of twelve new vessels.
The latest ship, named HMM Turquoise, is set to operate on the Pacific South Express (PSX) route, linking major ports in South Korea, China, and the United States. The vessel’s name reflects its inspiration from turquoise, the birthstone for December, symbolizing the company’s dedication to safeguarding customers’ cargo with care and precision.
The HMM Turquoise is designed for efficiency and sustainability, featuring:
- A carrying capacity of approximately 13,000 TEU.
- Advanced engineering for reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency.
- An LNG-ready structure, enabling potential future conversion to LNG propulsion.
The PSX route serviced by HMM Turquoise includes stops at Shanghai, Gwangyang, Busan, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Incheon, ensuring a vital connection between key ports in Asia and North America.
To remind, it was recently announced that HMM will invest a total of KRW 23.5 trillion ($17.4 billion) by 2030, with KRW 14.4 trillion ($10.7 billion), or more than 60 per cent of total investment, going toward sustainable management activities including low-carbon ships and green facilities.
