HD Hyundai has signed an agreement with Siemens for the joint development of an integrated design-production innovation platform.
According to Koran news agencies, the agreement, which was signed in Seongnam, south of Seoul, calls for jointly developing a platform to innovate its shipbuilding process from design to manufacturing. Through this systam, HD Hyundai aims to reduce inefficiencies and achieve industrial innovation.
HD Hyundai said that by 2025, it would initially install robots for steel plate moulding and welding at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard’s shipyard in the southeastern industrial city of Ulsan, as well as build a design-related cyber-physical system.
According to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the firm would then merge its digitalized automated manufacturing system with a next-generation design platform being developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
