Coldharbour Marine, BWM provider, has signed an agreement with Hansun (Shanghai) Marine Technology, covering the marketing and distribution of its products in mainland China. The contract was signed at a ceremony recently held in Shanghai, as part of the companies’ joint preparations for the IMO’s Ballast Water Convention, which enters into force on 8 September 2017.
Coldharbour’s products included in the agreement are its inert gas generation systems and in-tank ballast water treatment technologies. The agreement is the first step in a plan that will eventually see Hansun manufacture Coldharbour units at its facilities in Qi Dong, with Coldharbour in turn offering Hansun products to operators outside China.
Coldharbour CEO, Andrew Marshall said: “The Chinese market is vital to Coldharbour, and our Chinese customers are increasingly demanding the kind of high quality, high technology solutions that both we and Hansun produce.”
Training of the Hansun sales engineers and project engineers has already begun and Hansun is confidently predicting that its first sales of Coldharbour equipment will begin this year.
