The containership Mumbai Maersk that was grounded off the German island of Wangerooge in the North Sea earlier this week, has now been refloated.
The ship was on its way from Rotterdam to the German port city of Bremerhaven when it ran aground.
After the incident, Germany’s Central Command for Maritime Emergencies carried out an attempt to tow the ship, but the first try with two multipurpose vessels and five tugs on January 3 was unsuccessful.
Now, the vessel is now moving away with restricted maneuverability from the site, while Germany’s Central Command for Maritime Emergencies said the ship will be brought to its port of destination at the earliest possible time, most likely on January 4.
