Greece’s Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vasilis Kikilias, announced on 17 February the construction of an emergency escape port in Santorini, Greece.
As earthquakes continue to affect the island of Santorini, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has announced that a decision was made in consultation with the Prime Minister.
According to Kikilias, an escape port in a safe area on the island of Santorini will be established and will serve as a docking point for passenger ships in case of emergencies.
Additionally, in an interview, the Minister discussed the seismic activity recorded in Santorini, the preventive measures taken by the government and the overall state of readiness for emergencies.
He highlighted the possibility of a larger earthquake in the region, underscoring the need for constant vigilance and proactive preparation.
