The Port of Great Yarmouth, that belongs to Peel Ports Group, has taken delivery of a new state of the art crane giving it greater capabilities to handle larger cargoes on the east coast. The new crane with a 84 t lifting capacity will enable the port’s customers to further utilise its 24-hour deep-water facility which is able to handle larger volumes of bulk and unitised cargo.
Specifically, the LHM280 crane is capable of 35 cycles per hour, boosting cargo handling capabilities and shortening mobilisation and demobilisation processes.

Peel Ports aspires that the new improved facilities will help Great Yarmouth provide competitive service to customers, especially as many are the increasing shipping providers that opt to use east coast ports in the UK.
In addition, Glenn Hurren, UK Managing Director at ASCO addressed that it is encouraging to see the improvement and investment that is taking place in infrastructure at Peel Ports.
The new state-of-the-art crane will provide further operational efficiencies and enhance our UK Southern North Sea operations.
… Glenn Hurren commented.
Moreover, the port’s capabilities will play a significant role to decreasing the journey times for construction companies that use the port.
Finally, Richard Goffin, Port Director at Great Yarmouth noted that the port handles supplies for a variety of industries handling bulk goods, including the offshore, renewable, decommissioning, agri-bulk and aggregates markets, with the new crane allowing us to service greater amounts of cargo in a shorter amount of time, providing a more productive and flexible solution to our customers.
