Yara Marine Technologies announced that it has been awarded a contract for the supply of scrubber systems on four container feeder vessels that will be operated by by German ship manager Jüngerhans Maritime Services GmbH & Co. (Jüngerhans) on the North Sea.
The four newbuilds, currently under construction at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard co., Ltd in Zhoushan PRC, will have scrubber systems installed in full compliance with the International Maritime Organzation’s (IMO) new SOx regulation that will be implemented from 2020.
Yara Marine Technologies explains that is scrubber systems are in full compliance with the IMO’s SOx regulations and also also in full compliance with the global 0.5% SOx limit that IMO confirmed at MEPC70 meeting in London.
JÜNGERHANS MARITIME SERVICES GMBH & CO is a frontrunner in the North Sea feeder segment. With Yara Marine scrubber system installed, the container feeders can operate on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) with a Sulphur content up to 3,5% and be in compliance with both today’s and future IMO regulations. The new vessels will be fully emission compliant using any HFO fuel both inside the current North European SECA, as well as outside the SECA when the new global Sulphur regulation take affect from 2020.

Delivery of the first vessel is expected before 4th quarter of 2017.
