Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG has signed a contract with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for the construction of four 14,000 TEU container ships.
These ships will be methanol-ready, equipped with scrubbers, and feature energy-saving devices, reflecting a growing trend in the maritime industry towards sustainable and environmentally friendly fuel options. As informed, the vessels will measure 336 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and 30.2 meters in depth, with a capacity to carry 14,170 standard 20-foot containers.
Hudong-Zhonghua has previously received approvals for its 16,000 TEU methanol-powered container ship design from major classification societies such as ABS, Lloyd’s Register, China Classification Society (CCS), DNV, and Bureau Veritas, demonstrating its expertise and commitment to innovation in ship design.
The container ships are scheduled for delivery to Peter Döhle Schiffahrts between 2026 and 2027.
