The Genting Hong Kong and its shipyard group, MV Werften are planning to build a new series of LNG-powered “Universal Class” cruise vessels, that would be able to host 2.000 passengers. The company goals to launch one of its new cruise ship until the beginning of 2022.
With a capacity of 2.000 passengers and armed with an LNG propulsion, both of the three cruise vessels aim to ensure highest safety and meet with the environmental standards. Responsible for the vessel’s construction will be the shipbuilding company, MV Wefter.
We start designing and building a new series of ships, the Universal Class. The first ship is scheduled for delivery in late 2022.
…said Genting Hong Kong Chairman and CEO, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, during the keel laying ceremony of the company’s second 208,000 GT Dream Cruises ship.
Moreover, the cruise operator in order boost its business, will operate the “Universal Class” ships for hotel brands that want to enter the cruise industry and didn’t have the chance until now.
Large hotel brands are always mindful of their brand image, which is why the Universal Class ships are perfect because they guarantee quality “Made in Germany”.

Concluding, the establishment of the three cruise ships will begin after the delivery of the two global class ships, as MV Werften will be fully occupied with this project until 2024.
