The Netherlands-based towage company ALP Maritime has taken official delivery of towing vessel ‘ALP Keeper’ in Okayama, Japan. The vessel is part of the ALP Future Class, meaning it has a fuel capacity of 3400 m3 of IFO/MGO, sufficient for non-stop Trans-Atlantic/Indian, Pacific Ocean towing operations without fuel calls.
The ALP Fleet is designed for world-wide long distance towage of the largest floating objects, with the ability to offer additional services such as salvage, anchor handling, (long term) positioning/ heading control and mooring/survey works.
Additionally, the ALP Future Class vessels are equipped with dynamic positioning capability (DP II) allowing safe and ultra-long distance towing, offshore installation and decommissioning of large FPSO units, FLNG units and floating drill rigs.
ALP Keeper left the yard soon after the signing ceremony in early February.
Bermuda-based Teekay Offshore Partners acquired ALP Maritime Services B.V. (ALP) in February 2014.
