GAC Turkey has announced its appointment by Sweden based Salén Ship Management as agent for MS Island Sky’s port calls for the remainder of 2015 and throughout next year.
The deal, which covers the Noble Caledonian 114 passenger vessel’s 64 calls, comes hot on the heels of GAC UK clinching the PONANT Le Boréal and L’Austral business two weeks ago. The contract covers ship agency, husbandry services, ship spares logistics and bunker fuels, and passenger and crew support services.
Per Flodberg, Salén Ship Management’s Head of Operations, said GAC’s network of seven offices covering all Turkish ports was one of the main factors in their selection of a ship agent:
“GAC’s presence throughout Turkey together with their decades of expertise and focus on long term relationships impressed us. Their ability to provide services to cruise liners in addition to traditional ship agency, such as bunker fuels and ship spares logistics, was a bonus and leaves me free to concentrate on other matters.”
Ilker Atag, GAC Turkey’s cruise specialist and Assistant General Manager, Shipping, said: “We’re delighted to be able to announce this partnership with Salén which coincides with Seatrade Europe in Hamburg this week. GAC has our own stand for the first time and business wins such as this help strengthen the GAC brand in this key strategic sector for us. Our pan-European team of cruise specialists, together with colleagues from our bunker fuels and maritime training teams, are really looking forward to showcasing the traditional and value added services we provide at Seatrade.”
