The container ships ‘MSC Katyanim’, carrying the Panamanian flag, hit a pier in Yılport, Turkey, on November 19, as it was berthing. As a result of the incident, fuel leak was detected from the ship’s tank.
When ‘MSC Katyanim’ reached Yilport, docked at the berth, but it hit a pier. After this, a fuel leak took place from the container ship’s fuel tank.

After the leak, relevant authorities took action to prevent the leak from spreading. As of now, a containment boom is located around the vessel to limit the impact of the pollution to the marine environment.
According to local media, the further spread of the leak was successfully prevented.
No injuries have been reported, while the cause of the accident is still unknown.
