A fire on the ocean surface called the “Eye of fire” that erupted of July 2 in the Gulf of Mexico near Pemex’ Ku Maloob Zaap oil development was put out.
Namely, state oil company Pemex informed that a gas leak from an underwater pipeline caused the blaze.
Luckily, no injuries were reported, while the production from the project was not affected.
Pemex also added that it shut the valves of the 12-inch-diameter pipeline, and it will start an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The fire began in an underwater pipeline connecting the platform at Ku Maloob Zaap oil development, according to Reuters.
In addition, Angel Carrizales, head of Mexico’s oil safety regulator ASEA, stated that that the incident ‘did not generate any spill’.
