The fire ravaged MSC Daniela boxship has entered its third month of repairs, after suffering fire on 4 April 2017, in its aft section off Sri Lanka.
The 13,800 TEU container ship continued to smoulder for weeks after the flame was extinguished. On May 22, the vessel finally achieved to make its own way to Shanghai.
At that time, officials had declared that the ship would need three weeks of repair work, however the ship remains moored at Chine Shipping Industry’s Changxing yard, according to data provided by MarineTraffic.
According to MSC, the most likely reason for the blaze was shippers misdeclaring hazadous cargoes or stowing cargo inappropriately.
