Eleven weeks after entering the repair yard, the Mediterranean Shipping Company-operated MSC Daniela finally left the dock to continue operations, according to data provided by Marine Traffic.
In particular, the container ship suffered damage due to fire in its aft section, off Sri Lanka, on 4 April 2017, while heading from Singapore to Suez Canal. The 13,800 TEU boxship continued to smoulder for weeks after the flame was extinguished.
On May 22, the vessel achieved to head to Shanghai, for an estimated three-week period of repairs.
However, only today MSC Daniela left Chine Shipping Industry’s Changxing yard, continuing her route to Dalian.
According to MSC, the most likely reason for the blaze was shippers misdeclaring hazadous cargoes or stowing cargo inappropriately.
