Cargo of pellets on board the general cargo ship Kirsten B caught fire on June 23 at Kiel.
According to reports, there was no open fire, however the cargo was smoldering spreading around an unpleasant odor.
Due to the fire, the ship had to be berthed at Ostuferhafen, Kiel, instead of entering Kiel Canal. The vessel was en route from Vyborg Russia to UK.
What is more, sources report that the smoldering part of cargo was offloaded, while as of June 23 the ship remained berthed, with firefighters monitoring the cargo.
